Sternum : it's anatomy, upper middle and lower part

Sternum is a long flat bone. It is 15 centimetres in length. It is divided into three segments
1. Manubrium
2. Body
3. Xiphoid process
Upper part manubrium
It is quadrilateral in shape. It's lateral border joints with first rib pair.
It's clavicular notch medial end of clavicle bone articulates.
Body or middle part
It lateral border forms joint with lower part of 2nd C.C. and 3rd C.C. to 6 C.C. and upper half of 7th C.C.
Lower part or xiphoid process
Smallest part, lower part of 7th C.C. articulates.
